1867 New Orleans & International & Great Northern Railroad Mini Trunk Ticket Box1867 New Orleans & International & Great Northern Railroad Mini Trunk Ticket Box. Awesome small trunk, made mostly of leather, marked on the lid “N.O.I.G.&N.R.R.” Exceptionally nice condition considering it was made 154 years ago, shortly after the Civil War. It was made by “A.R. Pritchard/ Maker/ 78 State St./ Rochester, N.Y.” In January of 1868, the company name was changed to “A.R & T.H. Pritchard & Co.”, and since the lock is Patented 1867 and the company name was changed in Jan. 1868, I am saying the trunk was made in 1867. Trunk measures 13-3/4 inches wide by 8-3/4 inches deep by 6-5/8 inches tall and has 2 wooden trays which are made using tiny square nails. Though I am not sure what the trunk was for, it’s size and the design of the trays suggests the trunk was used as a ticket strongbox. And as the pictures show, the lock has been pried and forced open, which lends credence to the strongbox theory. Trunk has wooden runners on bottom. Lid has the original folder intact and in great condition. Inside of trunk is paper lined with the original paper, and it is in great condition. There are no repairs on this item; it’s in original condition. Please email with any questions.
