    Description

    Australia 1962 (10th Jan) Australian Antarctic Territory 5d Mawson stamp (Ref. 2) SG 7 (Ref. 1) on WCS First Day Cover cancelled in black with two strikes of  'WILKES / A.N.A.R.E.  / 10JA62 / AUST. ANTARCTIC TERR.' Milner E1c (Ref. 2) this being the first day of issue at Wilkes (Refs. 1 & 2) and Gower label to Largs North South Australia
    . Carried on the ship M.V. Thala Dan (Ref. 2).
    Cover is fine
    (see scans 1 & 2).
    Stamps of Australia were used from the Australian Antarctic Territory bases before 27th March 1957 (Refs 1 & 2) and remained valid for use there after the introduction of Australian Antarctic Territory issues.
    Australian Antarctic Territory issues are also valid for use in Australia where they are put on sale for a limited period when first issued (Ref. 1).
    I attest that the 'roo stamps(or any stamps for that matter) in my stock have not been reperfed,reperfinned(if a perfin),regummed(if mint or CTO) or gassed while in my possession. Furthermore I assert that these 'roo stamps have never been so treated because I bought them so long ago before these things were prevalent and/or I bought them from impeccable sources.
